Announcement & Timeline

What is Cisco Meraki announcing?

On May 12, 2026, Cisco will announce the End-of-Sale for the Meraki MT sensors product line. Customers have a standard period of six months to make final purchases, with the last day to buy on November 10, 2026. Support for Meraki MT Sensors will continue until Nov 30, 2031, providing customers with a five-year transition period.

Why is Cisco discontinuing Meraki MT Sensors?

Due to limited growth, we are exiting the Sensor market to focus on other strategic growth opportunities. As a result, we are discontinuing Meraki MT sensors and shifting our resources to drive innovation in areas with the greatest impact for customers.

What is the timeline for End-of-Sale and Last-Day-of-Support?

We will announce End of Sale for Meraki MT sensors on May 12, 2026. Customers have a standard period of six months to make final purchases, with the last day to buy on Nov 10, 2026. Support for Meraki MT Sensors will continue until Nov 30, 2031, providing customers with a five-year transition period.

To ensure no Meraki MT licenses extend beyond the Last-Day-of-Support period, only 1 YR MT Sensor Licenses will be offered after the End-of-Sale date. One-year licenses will stop being sold on Nov 10, 2030.

What license durations are available after the End-of-Sale announcement?

To ensure no Meraki MT licenses extend beyond the Last-Day-of-Support period, licenses longer than 1YR will no longer be offered after the End-of-Sale date.

Product Replacement & Migration

How will Cisco support development on the Meraki MT Sensor product during the End-of-Sale and Last-Day-of-Support period?

Current Meraki MT customers will continue to receive support until the product’s Last-Day-of-Support on Nov 30, 2031. For more information, please review our Product End-of-Life Policy here.

Does Cisco have a replacement product?

There is no direct alternative sensor from Cisco, nor a successor planned. We encourage customers to explore Cisco Spaces and third-party alternative sensors outside of Cisco. Cisco Spaces supports a validated ecosystem of third-party sensors which can be found here. More details of closest alternatives to MT sensors that would work with Cisco Meraki networks, as well as configuration steps can be found here

Customer Support

What does End-of-Sale mean for existing contracts and support?

End-of-Sale represents Cisco’s intention to no longer sell new MT Sensor hardware and does not impact existing contracts or support until the Last-Day-of-Support date.

What happens to any remaining Meraki MT Sensor licenses after Last-Day-of-Support?

MT licenses purchased before the End of Sale Date, regardless of the term, will still remain effective and can be claimed/applied to hardware through Dashboard.

Although legacy Cisco Meraki products typically can connect to our cloud-based management software for the entire useful life of the product, after the Last Day of Support Date, some things may change, including the following:

  • Cisco Meraki cannot guarantee that legacy hardware products will be able to connect to the management software indefinitely following the Last Day of Support Date;

  • Cisco Meraki Technical Support may no longer troubleshoot the legacy hardware products;

  • Cisco Meraki may no longer issue firmware updates or patches for the legacy products; and

  • New software features available for the management software may not be compatible with the legacy hardware functionality or with the firmware running on the legacy hardware.

What happens to customer data after Last-Day-of-Support?

Please refer to the Cisco Meraki Offer Disclosure, available on the Cisco Trust Portal.

What support will be available for Meraki MT customers until Last-Day-of-Support?

Subject to our Product End-of-Life Policy here, Cisco is committed to providing support to help ensure a smooth transition for customers. Current Meraki MT Sensor customers will continue to receive support from Meraki’s Technical Support team until the product’s Last-Day-of-Support on Nov 30, 2031. This includes:

  1. Technical Support: Ongoing assistance for Sev-1 issues and general inquiries.

  2. Reliability and Security: Measures to help maintain service reliability and address security vulnerabilities.

How should customers handle renewals or expiring licenses around the End-of-Sale announcement or past the End-of-Sale date prior to Last-Day-of-Support?

Customers should purchase a renewal by the End-of-Sale date to allow enough time to allow for their transition. One-year licenses are available for renewals.
