The Appliance Status page is accessible through Security Appliance/Teleworker Gateway > Monitor > Appliance status and contains the following information:
- Identifying information (such as serial number, model, tags, and location)
- Configured IP address information (IP address, address assignment method, default gateway, and DNS servers assigned to WAN / Internet ports)
- The public IP address that is currently being used to communicate with the Meraki Cloud
- The Dynamic DNS hostname of the appliance
- Warm spare status of the appliance if it is part of a high availability pair
- The virtual IP(s) of the appliance if it is part of a high availability pair
- Total client data usage in the last day
- A link to the network's Topology page (for combined networks only)
- Link to the appliance Event Log
- Configuration status information indicating whether the configuration of the appliance is up to date
- Configured firmware information indicating whether the appliance is on the latest available production firmware, and a link to the page where an update can be performed or scheduled if one is available
- A graphical representation showing what ports are currently active on the appliance
- Historical appliance connectivity and usage data. Click on the specified time frame or on the arrows to zoom or pan this performance data to the desired time range.
By clicking Edit configuration, you can edit the name, notes, tag, and location information for the MX device. You can also remove the device by clicking Remove from this network. This feature is particularly useful when you want to swap an old appliance with a new one.
Live tools allow network administrators to troubleshoot and debug networking issues remotely. For example:
- Click Internet traffic to see real-time WAN throughput for all active WAN interfaces. If HTTP Content Caching is enabled on MX80 or above, an HTTP traffic graph is also shown.
- Click DHCP leases to see a list of all currently active DHCP leases, as well as a table showing the number of used and available addresses per DHCP subnet.
- Click Ping to ping the MX appliance from the Meraki Cloud or to ping a specified destination based on hostname, IP, or MAC address.
- Click Traceroute to identify and troubleshoot potential routing issues by performing a traceroute to the specified host.
- Click DNS to test the DNS settings of the MX appliance by attempting to resolve the specified hostname using the configured DNS servers.
- Click Throughput to run a throughput test between the MX appliance and meraki.com.
- Determine which security appliance in the Dashboard corresponds to a particular physical security appliance by issuing a Blink LEDs command on the Dashboard and seeing which physical appliance's LEDs begin blinking. This tool is useful if you have multiple appliances or if you need to identify an appliance remotely for an on-site technician.
- Click Reboot appliance to reboot the MX appliance.
