XDR Quick Start Guide

The article outlines the steps to integrate XDR with the Meraki dashboard, which involves navigating to the Integrations page, connecting the XDR tile, and configuring networks to send telemetry. It specifies that firmware and licensing requirements must be met for devices and networks to be eligible. The integration supports specific Meraki/XDR regions which are outlined in this document.

The Cisco XDR integration is currently in beta.  XDR device insights integration with Meraki Systems Manager and L3 firewall rule automation with Meraki MX is coming soon.

Quick Start Steps

  1. Navigate to Organization > Configure > Integrations page in the Meraki dashboard.
  2. Click Connect on the XDR tile.
  3. Select your XDR region and sign in.
  4. Upon signing in, you will be redirected to the Integrations page.
  5. Go to My Integrations on the Integrations page and click on the XDR integration.
  6. Click on Configure Networks to send flow telemetry to XDR.

Prerequisites and Eligibility

The XDR feature can only be enabled by a full Organization admin (SAML is not supported). Check our documentation on Managing Dashboard Administrators and Permissions to learn about permissions.

Firmware Requirement

The required firmware or platform for XDR integration is as follows:

  • MX 19.1.4 or newer release
  • MX64, MX65, MX84, MX100, and vMX-XL are not supported

License Eligibility

All devices must be licensed to send telemetry to XDR. For Meraki, either Co-Term Licensing or Subscription licensing is required. Both Meraki and XDR licenses are required to use this integration.

Meraki Licensing

  • Coterm: Advanced Security or SDWAN+
  • Subscription: Essentials or Advantage
  • Per-device licensing (PDL): Not supported

XDR Licensing

  • Subscription: Essentials, Advantage, or Premier

Network Eligibility

If firmware, platform, and licensing requirements are met, then your network is eligible to send Flow Telemetry to XDR. The eligibility is shown in the Meraki dashboard when configuring networks.

The image below shows the integration's Configure Networks page. The column "XDR eligibility" will only show networks as eligible if firmware and licensing requirements are met. If a network is not licensed or does not have the correct firmware, then the network is not eligible to send flows to XDR and it will be reflected in the "XDR eligibility" column.

The XDR column will show “Eligible”.
