1. What is happening?
The Systems Manager (SM) Legacy and Free 100 licensing types will be retired on February 7, 2024. This change will affect only SM license entitlements that are a part of either the Legacy or Free 100 licensing types.
After the retirement date, existing enrolled devices will continue to be managed, but you will no longer be able to enroll new devices with Systems Manager unless you purchase new SM licenses.
2. Why are the SM Legacy and Free 100 licensing types being retired?
The retirement of the SM Legacy and Free 100 licensing types is part of a greater effort to simplify Meraki licensing in order to better focus on future development of new features for SM.
3. What is the timeline for this change?
Cisco Meraki will be retiring SM Legacy and Free 100 licensing types on February 7, 2024.
4. How will this initiative affect my endpoint environment?
This change will only affect your endpoint environment if you currently have devices managed under the SM Legacy or Free 100 license types. Existing enrolled devices will continue to be managed, but you will no longer be able to enroll new devices with Systems Manager unless you purchase new SM licenses.
This change will not impact your SM-enrolled devices if you have purchased SM licenses or are using SM licenses through a free trial program.
5. Will Cisco Meraki continue to offer technical support for SM Legacy and Free 100 customers after the retirement date?

7. Will this change affect existing license compliance?
At this time, the retirement of these licensing types will not impact your license compliance. If and when that changes, we will provide you advanced notice to ensure minimal disruption to your network(s).
8. Will SM Legacy or Free 100 licenses count towards Enterprise SM Licenses?
No, licensing must be purchased for the total number of devices that will be managed using SM. Enterprise SM licenses will override any current Legacy or Free 100 status, not add additional licenses on top of it. For example, to manage 150 devices in SM, a license for 150+ devices would need to be added to the organization.
9. How do I purchase SM licenses?
Please contact your Meraki sales representative or reseller to purchase new SM licenses.
