Cisco Meraki Documentation

Organization Overview

Cisco Meraki allows you to manage hundreds or even thousands of networks effectively. Under Organization > Overview, you can view a list of all networks within an organization along with their historical data from the last week. The Meraki Dashboard Organizational Structure article describes the hierarchy within every dashboard account.

Networks

The Organization Overview page displays the health of each network. You can customize this view to display additional information about your list of networks by selecting the "+" button and choosing the data columns you wish to make visible. Each column is movable to best fit the administrator's workflow. The Meraki cloud provides additional tools for monitoring a specific Network (Monitoring a Wireless Network).

The Created Date timestamp will be omitted for Combined networks as they potentially represent multiple network types (Security & SD-WAN, Switching, Wireless, etc).

Network tags

You can assign tags to different networks on the network list, allowing for a hierarchical classification of networks. For example, if there are two networks, you can tag one with "Region A" and the other with "Region B," with both tagged "District A." This creates a tree structure that you can use to filter by different tags based on the hierarchy.

To tag networks, complete the following steps:

  1. Select the networks using the checkboxes on the left side of the Organization > Overview  view.
  2. Select the Tag button in the same view.
  3. Add or remove tags as needed.

In the example below, nine networks have been assigned four tags. Tag D is present across all networks, whereas Tags A, B, and C are each present on three networks. You can create and search for batches of networks based on region, district, network authority, brand, or any other preferred tree structure.

Devices

The devices tab on the Organization Overview page reports the status and health of every Meraki device. Using the search capabilities, an administrator can filter on a specific model, status, and description. This view includes multiple columns that provide information about usage and status. The following example shows the search results for all offline MR34s and MR32s within the Meraki Corporate Organization.

SNMP polling the Meraki Cloud

You can poll the Meraki cloud to monitor all devices within a dashboard organization.

To configure SNMP polling, complete the following steps:

  1. Enable SNMP polling on the Organization Settings page.

  1. Refer to the SNMP Overview and Configuration article for detailed configuration instructions and a full list of parameters.

  1. Download the MIB file with a list of available parameters from the Organization Settings page.

Monitoring multiple organizations

Large customers may have multiple organizations within their enterprise. The Meraki Cloud offers a high level view similar to the Organization Overview discussed above. Refer to the Managing and Monitoring Multiple Organizations article for more information.
