Centralized Management

Administrators can access the cloud-based Dashboard, Meraki's management interface, through a web browser from anywhere in the world. This allows networks to be administered and monitored securely in real time.

Network Insight and Monitoring

The Meraki MS is the industry’s first cloud managed switch, combining the benefits of cloud based centralized management with a powerful, reliable access platform. With cloud management, thousands of switch ports can be configured and monitored instantly, over the web. Provision remote sites without on-site IT, deploy network-wide configuration changes, and easily manage campus and distributed networks without training or dedicated staff.

Event Logs and Alerts

Each Meraki MS is automatically monitored from the cloud, with continuous testing for cable failures, WAN connectivity, and more. The MS notifies you of problems with email alerts, and provides rich web-based diagnostics to troubleshoot your network from any web browser.
L7 Application Visibility Powerful application visibility - Packet inspection engines running custom parsers on each switch provide this information by fingerprinting and identifying applications and application groups.
Virtual Stacking “Virtual Stacking,” an industry-first technology that provides centralized management of up to 10,000 switch ports. Unlike traditional stacking, virtually stacked switches can be in different physical locations, simplifying large scale and distributed environments.
Local Management Local management page for device configuration monitoring and management IP & VLAN configuration
Automatic Software Updates Support for fully automated firmware upgrades or time-scheduled firmware upgrades
Networking

Stackable

Stackable 1G / 10G Models with PoE on All Ports

QoS MS series provides QoS support for Voice and Video performance

Layer 2/3 Switching

Switch functionality is designed for the network edge and provides Layer 2 functionality as well as RSTP/STP to build resilient networks. (The MS42 and MS42P are hardware ready for L3)

IPv6 Support MS series fully supports IPv6 traffic, however uses IPv4 for management

Note: Support for IPv6 addresses for switch management is available on firmware MS 15.1+
Link Aggregation Support for Link Bonding (LACP) with up to 8 ports per aggregate, Full LACP support
  Storm Control Protection

L2 packet prioritization of control and management traffic to reduce risk of network instability caused by a network loop

This feature is enabled by default

PCI and HIPAA Compliant Fully PCI and HIPAA compliant
  Jumbo Frames

  802.1X Security IEEE 802.1X Support
LLDP LLDP Data Reporting, advertisement and snooping
Remote Monitoring
Cable Testing Proactive and on demand cable testing tools allow for you to be aware of a cable problem before anyone else.
Monitoring and Alerts Receive alerts for both switch and port level changes and events
  Role-based Administration Easy-to-use role-based administration
