MV IP Assignment

Overview

This document covers the default DHCP behavior as well as the static IP assignment capability introduced in firmware version MV7.2 GA release.

DHCP IP Assignment (Default Behavior)

By default, MV cameras rely on DHCP for local IP assignment and do not support static IP configuration out of the box.

Static IP Assignment (MV7.2 GA and Later)

Starting with the MV7.2 GA firmware release, Cisco Smart Cameras has introduced the ability to configure static IP assignment on supported camera generations.

Eligibility and Supported Hardware

Static IP assignment is supported on the following camera generations:

  • MV84X
  • MV13, MV23, MV33, MV53, MV63, MV73, MV93 series

If you would like to assign specific IPs to their MV cameras which is not one of the supported models, or is on a firmware older than MV7.2, you should use a DHCP server to create a DHCP reservation (MAC address-to-IP assignment).

  • If the upstream DHCP server is a Meraki MX or MS, leverage the Fixed IP Assignments guide to configure DHCP reservations.
  • If the upstream DHCP server is a third-party device, consult your vendor-specific documentation for DHCP reservation / MAC address-to-IP assignment configuration.

To enable Static IP configuration on your network or organization, you can visit the Early Access page and enable it, under Organization > Configure > Early Access
