Cloud-native IOS XE for Cisco wireless controllers combines the performance of the 9800 wireless controller and the user-friendly interface of the Meraki dashboard, streamlining wireless operations, enabling comprehensive insights into both Meraki and Catalyst networks from a single dashboard. With the Meraki dashboard, users can efficiently monitor their entire network remotely, identifying and resolving problems, regardless of their location, even if they are thousands of miles away.

This powerful solution provides intuitive monitoring and troubleshooting tools for wireless controllers, access points, clients, and applications. With these tools at their disposal, users can simplify their operations, ensuring optimal performance and resolving any issues that may arise with ease.

Native dashboard integration with IOS XE provides a seamless onboarding experience, with real-time data, performance and health indicators for C9800 wireless controllers and their associated access points.

Hybrid operating mode

Cloud-native IOS XE wireless controllers are connected to dashboard in hybrid operating mode - wireless controllers are not restricted to only dashboard management and the IOS XE running/startup configs are stored directly on the wireless controller. Dashboard will supplement the wireless controller configuration with commands required for cloud management. This operating mode gives IOS XE administrators flexibility with their management operations, as they can augment existing tools that are already imbedded in their daily network operations with management features available with the Meraki dashboard.

In this mode, the Meraki dashboard provides health and assurance for IOS XE devices, can update IOS XE software, and configure IOS XE with the Cloud CLI terminal (Early access starting in April 2025)

Terms and Conditions

Use of and access to hybrid operating features in the Meraki Dashboard are governed by the Meraki Offer Description and Cisco General Terms (the "Terms"). Any terms applicable to your Catalyst devices prior to enrollment in hybrid operating (e.g., hardware warranty, end of life policy, technical support) continue to apply. By using hybrid operating you agree to the Terms and further agree that certain mandatory configurations will be pushed to your enrolled Catalyst wireless controllers devices as further described HERE. And for Catalyst switches as further described HERE.
