Migrating from Commercial Regions to the Cisco Meraki US Government Region

Simple steps for migrating devices and licensing from the Cisco Meraki Commercial Regions to the Cisco Meraki US Government Region

Overview

If you are an existing Cisco Meraki customer and wish to migrate your network or parts of your network to the Cisco Meraki US Government region please follow the steps below:

Process

Step

Description

Validate Hardware Compliance | Cisco Meraki US Government region does not support all available Cisco Meraki hardware. Use our Cisco Meraki US Government Region Users Supported Devices page to confirm your hardware is supported in the Cisco Meraki For Government Region.

Create New Organization | Contact your account executive and ask them to create a new organization for you within the Cisco Meraki US Government region. For them to do this you will need to have at least one order with a valid co-termination FED license SKU.

Migrate Configuration Information | Manually copy or use APIs to migrate information from your commercial cloud to their new Cisco Meraki US Government region organization.

Migrate Hardware | Unclaim the hardware you are moving from your commercial cloud and then reclaim them in their Cisco Meraki US Government region organization.

Migrate Licenses | If your existing commercial licenses have more than six months remaining you can migrate them to the Cisco Meraki US Government region. Doing so will reduce the remaining time on the licenses by 20% to account for the increase costs of the Cisco Meraki US Government region. To migrate your licenses, open a new case with Cisco Meraki support.

If you have any issues during this process, please reach out to Meraki For Government Support for assistance.
