AI Defense Inspection Credentials

Use AI Defense Inspection Credentials to authenticate chat and HTTP inspection requests. The key belongs to a specific AI Defense application connection and cannot be used for Management API operations.

Prerequisites

  1. Create the key in AI Defense:
  2. Select Applications.

  3. Add or open an application configured for API runtime protection.

  4. Create or edit the application's API connection.

  5. Enter a name for the API key and choose an expiration date, or select Never Expire.

  6. Generate and copy the key. The key cannot be viewed again after the page is closed.

  7. If the connection uses an AI Defense policy, associate the policy with the connection.

Creating an AI Defense Inspection Credentials

  1. In Workflows, go to Automation > Account Keys.

  2. Select New Account Key.

  3. Select AI Defense Inspection Credentials.

  4. Enter a display name and description.

  5. Paste only the generated key into Inspection API Key. Do not include a header name or prefix.

  6. Select Save.

Workflows sends the key in the X-Cisco-AI-Defense-API-Key header. Treat it as a secret and do not store it in an ordinary workflow variable.

If the key expires, is revoked, or is regenerated, replace the key in the saved Workflows account key. A revoked or regenerated key becomes inactive immediately.
