IoT Radio Settings
Overview
IoT Radio Settings provides a single workflow for enabling IoT technologies on a network and assigning compatible access points (APs) as gateways for those technologies.
The workflow has two layers:
- Network configuration: Enable an IoT role and enter any technology-specific settings.
- Gateway assignment: Assign compatible APs to that role when manual assignment is required. Each AP can have only one IoT role at a time.
MQTT settings page has been moved to Wireless>Configure>MQTT Settings.
Supported IoT roles
Dashboard determines AP compatibility and displays only compatible devices. Because model support may change, use the compatible AP list shown in Dashboard.

Assignment rule: ESL roles are never assigned automatically. A non-ESL role is assigned automatically to compatible APs only when it is the network's single enabled IoT role.
MT Sensor support is disabled when Sensor Connect, ESL or Zigbee roles are enabled on a gateway. If all APs in the network are assigned as a Gateway, then MT sensors will stop functioning. Please ensure that at least 1 AP is in Classic BLE mode for MT functionality.
Configuration
- Open the target network and navigate to IoT Radio Settings.
- On Settings, enable and configure the required role.
- Select Save and confirm any assignment-impact warning.
- If exactly one non-ESL role is enabled, compatible APs are assigned automatically. Open Gateways tab only to verify or manage those assignments.
- If an ESL role or multiple roles are enabled, open the Gateways tab and manually assign APs to the intended role.
- Verify the gateway count, status, and technology-specific fields.
Enable and configure IoT roles
- Open IoT Radio Settings > Settings.
- Select the required IoT technology and turn on its toggle.
- Expand the role, when available, and enter its configuration.
- Repeat for any additional roles that the network requires.
- Select Save.

Sensor Connect
This option enables the new Sensor Connect Bi-direction BLE integration. For more details refer to Sensor Connect on Meraki - Deployment Guide
Meraki BLE
This section enables the legacy BLE functionality that includes BLE Scanning and BLE advertising. For more details refer to Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE)
ESL configuration
ESL roles require manual gateway assignment. Enabling an ESL role displays a message directing the user to the Gateways tab.

- High frequency ESL: Enable the role, save it, and configure each gateway's ESL channel during assignment.
- Bluetooth ESL: Enter the required V:Cloud URL supplied by VusionGroup, then save.

- Sepioo IIoT: Enter the required Cloud URL supplied by PDi Digital, then save. The endpoint can also be configured with the network-level ESL API.

Door locks configuration
The Door locks role uses Zigbee and requires three groups of settings:
- Visionline server: Host address, username, and password. Dashboard displays the server connection status.
- IoT controller: Select the AP that will operate as the network's controller. Dashboard displays its status.
- Gateway settings: Configure the default transmit power and Zigbee channel. The channel can be Auto or a value from 11 through 25.
Save these settings before assigning gateways and enrolling locks.

Assigning gateways from the Gateways tab
The Gateways page contains an Unassigned tab followed by one tab for each IoT role. Each tab displays a gateway count assigned to that role. A role tab is available only when that role is enabled in Settings.
If the network has no enabled role, the page directs the user to enable one on Settings.

Manual assignment workflow
- Open IoT Radio Settings > Gateways.
- Select the tab for the target role.
- Select Assign gateways.
- Use Search, IoT role, Model, and AP tag filters to locate APs. Only APs compatible with the target role are listed.
- Select one or more APs.
- Complete the assignment:
- For Sensor Connect, Classic BLE, Bluetooth ESL, or Door locks, select Save.
- For High frequency ESL or Sepioo IIoT, select Next, choose a channel for every AP, and then select Save.
7. If an AP already has another IoT role, review the Change IoT role confirmation. Confirming replaces the current role with the selected role.
8. Verify that the role tab count and table reflect the new assignment.

ESL channel selection
High frequency ESL and Sepioo IIoT require a device-level ESL channel during assignment. Choose one of the following for each selected AP:
- Auto
- A channel from 0 through 10
The role table displays the configured channel. Use Edit channel by clicking the overflow menu for that specific AP to change it after assignment. A channel change can take up to 20 minutes to be reflected by the gateway.

Assign from Unassigned
The Unassigned tab lists compatible APs without an IoT role. Users can select APs and use the Assign gateways menu to assign them to an enabled role. An AP that is not compatible with the selected role is not assigned, and Dashboard displays a warning.
Reassign or remove gateways
- To reassign an AP, open the destination role tab, select Assign gateways, select the AP, and confirm the role change.
- To remove an assignment, use the remove action in the assignment drawer. The AP moves to Unassigned.
- Removing or changing a role can interrupt associations with clients and sensors that rely on the previous role.
Role-specific gateway operations
High frequency ESL and Sepioo IIoT
The role tables display gateway status, ESL channel, model, and ESL gateway ID. Use Edit channel when a different channel is required.

Bluetooth ESL
The role table displays gateway status, model, and ESL gateway ID. Its provider endpoint is configured at the network level; it does not use the per-AP channel step.
Door locks
The Door locks table displays the gateway's status, channel, transmit power, model, AP tags, and enrolled-lock information.

Available operations include:
- Edit channel: Change the gateway's Zigbee channel to Auto or 11–25.
- Enroll door locks: Start a 180-second discovery window. Present the discover card to the Zigbee door locks, then give each discovered lock a valid name and finish enrollment.
- Manage enrolled locks: Open the lock count to view enrolled locks, search the list, rename one lock, remove one or more locks, or start another enrollment.
During enrollment, Dashboard polls for discovered locks and provides Stop Enrollment to end the window early.
