Onboarding Cloud-Managed Catalyst switches to the Meraki Dashboard

Cloud-managed Catalyst switches can be onboarded to the Meraki Dashboard using an easy process that allows you to choose between hybrid and cloud operating modes. Switches can be added either through the network-wide add devices page or the organization-wide inventory page.

Organizations using per-device licensing must use the network-wide add devices page.

Here's a step-by-step guide for adding a Catalyst switch to a network:

Step 1: Choose an eligible Catalyst switch

  • Begin by selecting a Catalyst switch that is eligible to be added to your network. See eligible switches for each operating mode here.

Step 2: Select a dashboard network

  • After selecting an eligible Catalyst switch for your network use this guide add the switch to a network (Adding Devices to Networks). You will be prompted to choose a dashboard network as shown in the image below:

Step 3: Choose the operating mode

  • Decide on the operating mode for your switch. You can select between 'cloud' or 'hybrid' mode as per your network requirements.
  • Please pay attention to the instructions and warnings provided on this page before clicking Next.

Step 4: Click 'Next'

  • After selecting the operating mode, click on the 'Next' button to proceed. This will allow you to review the choices you have made.

Make sure to review pre-requisites at the pages below before continuing.

Step 5: Confirm and apply selections

  • Once you have reviewed all choices, you can confirm your selections on the 'Summary' screen and apply them to add the switch into your network.

Notes:

  • Always verify that the switch is compatible with the operating mode you plan to select.
  • Review all pre-requisites carefully to prevent any setup issues.
