Privacy Windows

Overview

Privacy windows allow an administrator to block sensitive areas from a camera’s feed. Once applied, subsequent video in the specified area is not recorded.

This image illustrates how privacy windows block sensitive areas from being recorded by cameras.

Administrators may need to avoid recording certain areas of a camera’s view due to legal requirements. Privacy windows block motion and people detection. This can help screen persistent motion, like a ceiling fan or display, and improve storage efficiency when using motion-based retention tools.

To add a privacy window, administrators can draw a rectangle over the camera feed. Privacy windows can overlap to cover irregular shapes. Each feed supports up to 10 privacy windows.

The minimum required firmware version for privacy windows is MV 3.14.

  2. Select the camera you want to configure a privacy window to access the Camera Details page.

  3. Click the Settings tab.
