Hardware Guidelines for MV Video Wall Workstations
Overview
This article outlines the minimum system requirements for streaming MV video on the Meraki Vision portal and the Meraki Dashboard. It recommends using the Vision Portal for video viewing and investigation due to its enhanced features and user experience.
Keep the following points in mind while reviewing these guidelines:
-
System memory is the key resource in prolonged video playback. We recommend closing other applications if running prolonged video walls.
-
In addition to the requirements below, performance depends on many factors including:
-
Specific browsers used - we recommend keeping browsers up-to-date. We only support the latest versions of all browsers (and one version behind the most recent release, in most cases)
-
Connectivity of the entire set-up - we recommend limiting the usage of adapters to connect to monitors (eg HDMI, VGA, etc)
-
local vs cloud - we recommend having wired network connectivity for video streaming workstations. Wireless network connectivity can greatly impact streaming performance at scale
-
Bandwidth used and available to the client for watching live and playback video
-
Multiple 4K streams will put more load on your client and network, causing it to slow down
-
