Beginner’s Guide to Workflows

In this article, you will learn the basic concepts, build a simple workflow to understand how the platform works, and use the learning samples to practice common tasks. By the end of this article, you will be ready to explore more advanced topics and create automation that fits your environment.

Understand the key concepts, requirements, and licensing requirements .

Launch Cisco Workflows from the Meraki dashboard and familiarize yourself with the user interface.

(Optional) Browse, explore, and install Cisco-validated prebuilt workflows from the Meraki Automation Exchange.

5.

Create a Target. A target lets your workflow know which system or device it should talk to when running an action.

    • View the list of supported targets, their purposes, and the required account key configurations for authentication.

    • Learn more about account keys, the credential types used for authenticating with targets.

    • (Optional) Group multiple targets, either of the same or different types, into target groups to enable your workflows to dynamically select and interact with them during execution.

(Optional) Use the Automation Remote virtual appliance to connect with on-premises targets that are not directly accessible from the public internet.

Create a Workflow for the newly created target.

8.  Use the Run Monitoring page to review previous executions of workflows. Monitor workflow runs.
